Über die letzten Monate hinweg gab es jede Menge Meldungen von iPhone-Nutzern, nach denen ihr Gerät sich immer mal wieder trotz gefülltem Akku unangekündigt ausschaltete. Das Update auf iOS 10.2.1 soll dieses Problem nun erfolgreich behoben haben, wie Apple in einem eher seltenen Statement zu einem solchen Thema gegenüber TechCrunch, bekanntgab. Konkret wurde das Problem mithilfe des Updates laut Apples Aussageauf dem iPhone 6s um 80% und auf dem iPhone 6 um 70% reduziert.

With iOS 10.2.1, Apple made improvements to reduce occurrences of unexpected shutdowns that a small number of users were experiencing with their iPhone. iOS 10.2.1 already has over 50% of active iOS devices upgraded and the diagnostic data we've received from upgraders shows that for this small percentage of users experiencing the issue, we're seeing a more than 80% reduction in iPhone 6s and over 70% reduction on iPhone 6 of devices unexpectedly shutting down.

We also added the ability for the phone to restart without needing to connect to power, if a user still encounters an unexpected shutdown. It is important to note that these unexpected shutdowns are not a safety issue, but we understand it can be an inconvenience and wanted to fix the issue as quickly as possible. If a customer has any issues with their device they can contact AppleCare.

Apple stellt allerdings auch klar, dass es sich bei dem mit iOS 10.2.1 behobenem Problem um ein anderes handelt, als bei dem, welches Apple dazu veranlasst hatte, eine Austauschaktion für bestimmte iPhone 6s zu starten. Der mit dem Update korrigierte Fehler wurde offenbar von einer inkorrekten Stromzufuhr durch den Akku, vor allem bei älteren Geräten ausgelöst. Dies führte zu einer sicheren Notfallabschaltung des Geräts. Wer von dem Problem geplagt wird und das Update auf iOS 10.2.1 noch nicht durchgeführt hat, sollte dies kurzfristig nachholen.
