Überraschung: Apple veröffentlicht Update auf Version 7.8 für die AirPort Express inkl. AirPlay 2

Man hatte eigentlich schon nicht mehr wirklich damit gerechnet, nun ist es aber doch wahr geworden. Apple hat seiner inzwischen eingestellten aktuellsten Generation der AirPort Express WLAN-Station am heutigen Abend ein Update auf Version 7.8 spendiert, welches tatsächlich die Unterstützung für AirPlay 2 und Apples Home-App unter iOS 12 mitbringt. Bereits seit der Veröffentlichung von AirPlay 2 mit iOS 11.4 tauchte die Station immer mal wieder innerhalb der Home-App auf, was die Hoffnung auf AirPlay 2 Unterstützung zwar schürte aber dennoch irgendwie nicht so recht vermuten ließ. Mit der heute veröffentlichten Firmware-Version 7.8 sind nun aber alle Zweifel ausgeräumt.

Die AirPort Express verfügt über einen AUX-Anschluss, über den sich beliebige Lautsprecher anschließen lassen, auf die sich dann kabellos Musik streamen lassen. Dank der Unterstützung von AirPlay 2 kann die AirPort Express (und damit auch der daran angeschlossene Lautsprecher) nun auch in ein Multiroom-Konzept eingebunden und gemeinsam mit anderen Speakern, wie dem HomePod, Sonos und weiteren betrieben werden.

Das Firmware-Update kann über das AirPort-Dienstprogramm unter iOS oder macOS installiert werden.

Nun habe ich versucht den airport als Speaker in der home app zu finden. Leider vergebens. Auch das hinzuf\374gen als Ger\344t in der home app funktioniert nicht, da der airport nat\374rlich kein nfc zur Koppelung oder einen entsprechenden Code hat. Hat irgend wer eine Ahnung wie ich nun den airport als Lautsprecher in der home app finde?

Ger\344te k\366nnen einzeln hinzugef\374gt werden im Home App mit dem Plus Zeichen, dann ausw\344hlen kein Code vorhanden, in dem Fenster sollten dann die auszuw\344hlenden Ger\344te auftauchen, anw\344hlen und hinzuf\374gen, den Rest macht das Home App. F\374r Multiroom ist eine Integration in Home aber nicht notwendig ich glaube sogar nicht mal iOS12.

Hast Du die Aiport Express zum direkten einstecken in die Steckdose (alt) oder das neue quadratische Modell mit Kabel (neu)?
Bei mir hat die neue das Update auf 7.8 und die alte hat immer noch die Firmware 7.6.9.
