Apple entwickelt gemeinsam mit Amazon, Google und Zigbee neues Smart-Home-Protokoll

Am heutigen Nachmittag flatterte eine interessante Pressemitteilung aus dem Hause Apple in mein Postfach. Darin kündigt das Unternehmen an, gemeinsam mit Amazon, Google und der Zigbee Alliance einen offenen Standard für Smart-Home-Geräte zu entwickeln und am Markt zu etablieren.Dabei sollen vor allem die Themen Kompatibilität, Sicherheit und eine einfache Implementierung durch die Hersteller im Vordergrund stehen. Die Arbeitsgruppe hat sich dabei den Namen"Connected Home over IP" gegeben und umfasst auch die Vorstandsmitglieder der Zigbee Alliance, zu denen IKEA, Legrand, NXP Semiconductors, Resideo, Samsung SmartThings, Schneider Electric, Signify (ehemals Philips Lighting), Silicon Labs, Somfy und Wulian gehören.

Nach eigener Aussage basiert das Projekt auf der "gemeinsamen Überzeugung, dass intelligente Heimgeräte sicher, zuverlässig und nahtlos zu bedienen sein sollten. Aufbauend auf dem Internet Protocol (IP) zielt das Projekt darauf ab, die Kommunikation über Smart Home-Geräte, mobile Apps und Cloud Services zu ermöglichen und eine spezifische Menge IP-basierender Netzwerktechnologien zur Gerätezertifizierung zu definieren."

Um diese Überzeugung umzusetzen wird die Arbeitsgruppe einen Open-Source-Ansatz für die Entwicklung und Implementierung eines neuen, einheitlichen Verbindungsprotokolls auf Basis von IP verfolgen. Dabei sollen die Erfahrungen der markterprobten Smart-Home-Technologien von Amazon, Apple, Google, der Zigbee Alliance zusammenfließen. Vor allem auch die Sprachdienste wie Alexa, Siri und der Googles Assistant werden dabei eine große Rolle spielen. Es werden aber auch andere Hertseller eingeladen, an dem projekt mitzuarbeiten.
