Das Coronavirus hält weiter auch die Apple-Welt in Atem. So hat Apple mit sofortiger Wirkung sämtliche seiner Retail Stores im in Europa am stärksten von der Epidemie betroffenen Land Italien geschlossen. Apple begründet den Schritt erwartungsgemäß mit der Ausnahmesituation im Land und dem Schutz der Gesundheit sowohl der Bevölkerung als auch der eigenen Mitarbeiter. Kunden sollen sich bei Support-Anfragen an die Apple-Webseiten wenden. Fürs erste bleiben die Stores bis zum Ende der Woche geschlossen, vermutlich jedoch noch länger. Die landesweite Quarantäne gilt aktuell bis zum 03. April. Gegenüber Bloomberg gab Apple das folgende Statement ab:

"As we support the work to contain and manage the spread of COVID-19, our priority remains the health and safety of everyone in the communities we serve. With that in mind, our stores in Italy will be closed until further notice. We understand customers may need support from Apple during this challenging time and we'll ensure our online and phone support, as well as online store, remain open for customers. We will closely monitor the situation and look forward to reopening our stores as soon as possible."
