Elon Musk aus allen Rohren: Apple CEO Forderung, AppStore-Abgabe und Tesla-Übernahme

Tesla CEO Elon Musk ist ohne Zweifel eine der schillerndsten Persönlichkeiten des Silicon Valley. Mit seiner Macht ist er inzwischen in der Lage, mit einem einzigen Tweet den Kurs des Bitcoin in neue Höhen schießen oder aber auch in tiefe Abgründe stürzen zu lassen. Heute nun ist der Mitbegründer von PayPal mal wieder in aller Apple-Munde. So war es zunächst die Los Angeles Times, die auf Basis des neuen Buchs "Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk and the Bet of the Century" berichtete, dass Musk einst verlangte, zum Apple CEO ernannt zu werden für den Fall, dass der Mac-Hersteller Tesla übernehmen würde. Diese Forderung soll er Tim Cook bei einem kurzen Plausch über die Möglichkeit eben einer solchen Übernahme mitgeteilt haben. Cook lehnte dankend ab und Apple übernahm im selben Jahr, in dem dieses Gespräch stattgefunden haben soll, den Kopfhörerhersteller Beats.

Bereits vor einiger Zeit hatte Musk kundgetan, dass er einst Kontakt mit Tim Cook aufnahm, um die Möglichkeit einer Übernahme Teslas durch Apple zu diskutieren. Zu diesem Gespräch soll es allerdings nie gekommen sein. Entsprechend ließ Elon Musk heute dann nicht nur verlauten, dass das oben erwähnte Buch falsch und langweilig sei, sondern auch, dass es nie die genannte Forderung von seiner Seite gegeben habe.

Einmal in Fahrt, schoss sich Musk dann offenbar direkt auf Apple ein und schlug sich in der Diskussion um die Gerechtigkeit im AppStore auf die Seite der von den Fortnite-Entwicklern von Epic angeführten Apple-Gegner. Dabei geht der Tesla CEO sogar soweit, die AppStore-Abgabe in Höhe von 15% bis 30% als "de facto global tax on the Internet" zu bezeichnen.

Die Gründe für derartige Äußerungen sind bei Musk nicht immer ganz klar und sollten dementsprechend auch nicht zu sehr auf die Goldwaage gelegt werden. Klar ist, dass zwischen Apple und Tesla inzwischen ein Kampf um Arbeitskräfte und Ingenieure ausgebrochen ist. So soll Apple für die Arbeit an seinem eigenen Auto-Projekt verschiedene Mitarbeiter Teslas abgeworben haben, was Musk naturgemäß nicht schmeckt. Selbst ist das Unternehmen von der AppStore-Abgabe übrigens nicht betroffen: Tesla vertreibt keine kostenpflichtigen Apps über Apples AppStore.

Elon Musk ist auf der einen Seite ein Blender und Selbstdarsteller. Tätigt Äußerungen, bei denen man hoffen muss, dass er einfach nur inkompetent ist. Die Alternative wäre, dass er bewusst lügt. Denken wir nur mal an alle Aussagen zu den Fahrassistenten in den Teslas.

Aber seine Aussage zum App Store ist entsprechend der mitschwingenden Emotionen nachvollziehbar. Die Abgabe ist nicht mehr zweckgebunden.
Die 98 Milliarden die Apple seit 2008 damit eingenommen hat... man muss schon Fanboy sein, um zu glauben, dass 100 % davon in die Infrastruktur und den Reviewprozess fliesst.

Auf den Rest kann ich nicht eingehen, da ich nicht den Zusammenhang zum App Store erkenne. "Gewinn durch Entwicklung von Produkten", da sind wir beim iPhone oder iPad, die verkauft werden. Was das mit dem App Store zu tun hat - du weisst es sicher. Ich nicht.
