Quasi seit es WhatsApp für das iPhone im AppStore gibt warten die Nutzer auf eine iPad-Version, um ihre Chats auch auf dem iPad zur Verfügung zu haben und sie auf dem großen Display zu führen. In den vergangenen Monaten gab es immer wieder Hinweise darauf, dass Meta an einer entsprechenden Version arbeiten würde, die dann im Rahmen der aktuell in Entwicklung befindlichen Multi-Device-Unterstützung erscheinen soll. In einem Interview mit den Kollegen von The Verge erklärte WhatsApp-Chef Will Cathcart nun erstmals offiziell, dass eine iPad-Version offenbar in Arbeit ist. Anders sind die Worte "we'd love to do it" wohl kaum zu deuten. Man sei sich bei WhatsApp durchaus bewusst, dass es eine große Nachfrage nach einer iPad-App gebe. Auf einen Zeitrahmen für eine mögliche Veröffentlichung ging Cathcart erwartungsgemäß nicht ein.
