Geiselnahme im Amsterdamer Apple Store: Täter stirbt an seinen Verletzungen

Anfang der Woche hielt eine sich aus einem Raubüberfall entwickelnde Geiselnahme im Amsterdamer Apple Store die Apple-Welt in Atem. Wie inzwischen bekannt ist, hatte der maskierte und bewaffnete 27-jährige Täter zunächst einen Raubüberfall geplant, dann vier Mal in die Luft gefeuert und schließlich einen Kunden als Geisel genommen. Andere Kunden und Angestellte durften das Ladengeschäft verlassen oder verbarrikadierten sich in angrenzenden Räumen. Polizeiangaben zufolge forderte der Täter schließlich 200 Millionen Euro in Kryptowährung und einen freien Abzug.

Der Polizei gelang schließlich der Zugriff als der Täter Wasser forderte, welches im mit einem Roboter zur Eingangstür des Stores gebracht wurde. In dem Moment als er die Tür öffnete, flüchtete die Geisel und der Täter nahm die Verfolgung auf. Die Polizei nutzte diesen Moment, um ihn mit einem BMW X5 gezielt über den Haufen zu fahren. Da befürchtet wurde, dass er einen Sprengstoffgürtel tragen könnte, wurde er anschließend ohne Ergebnis mithilfe eines Roboters abgesucht. Offenbar hatte der Täter während des Vorfalls Selfies an die lokale Presse verschickt, die den Eindruck erweckten, dass er eine Bombe bei sich trage. Bewaffnet war er letzten Endes mit einer automatischen und einer Handfeuerwaffe.

Während die Store-Mitarbeiter und Kunden nicht körperlich zu Schaden kamen, trug der Täter durch den Zugriff der Polizei schwere Verletzungen davon. Wie der Staatsanwalt inzwischen mitteilte, waren diese sogar so schwer, dass er daran am Mittwochabend verstorben ist (via Heise). Die Polizei teilte darüber hinaus mit, dass der Täter neben den genannten Waffen in der Tat auch Sprengstoff bei sich hatte. Die Bombe sei allerdigns nicht funktionstüchtig gewesen. Er sei darüber hinaus bereits mehrfach vorbestraft gewesen.
