Is it smart to pay for a general one-size-fits-all resume, which you can submit anytime, anywhere, for any available job? The Truth: It is a stupid error! The reality: Organizations are required to sift through as much as 400 resumes per day! Thus they toss away every resume which is not purposely targeted to the position being hired.

Almost all employers consider the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume approach, as antiquated and worthless. Instead, employers wish to learn what makes you a better choice than other candidates, including real-life examples of contributions you made for former companies.

Resume statements such as "team player", hurt your resume. They look cliche and do not put you in a positive way. The same is true of a term such as "dedicated". The best phrases reinforce what you achieved for your prior positions and also how useful you are going to be to this potential organization.

Resume text such as "highly skilled", are a problem. They sound cliche and don't position you in a positive light. This is also true for a phrase like "dedicated". Is it smart to pay for a general one-size-fits-all resume, which you can use anytime, anywhere, for any job position? The Fact: It is a terrible idea! The reason: Organizations must read through up to 500 resumes in a single day! Which means they toss away any resume which is not specifically targeted to the employment being hired.

Resume statements as for example "accomplished", have no value. They make you sound cliche and don't put you in a positive way. Ditto for a statement like "self-motivated". The best phrases focus on things you did while at your prior positions and also how useful you could be to this prospective employer.

A quarter-century ago, people were told that our resume needs to contain a list of bullet-point duties and responsibilities for any occupation we have ever occupied - and the bigger the list the better. Not anymore! These days, employers will only spend fifteen seconds (maybe even less) when reviewing your resume. Don't follow the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume format!

Stop losing the job by using a general resume! What a general resume does, is show how you look no better than anyone else - not how you outpace your competition for the same position.

Current companies won't go through each of the four hundred or higher resumes they receive - for every job offering! In reality, they will gladly discard ninety percent of them, if a resume does nothing to grab the reader's attention.

Resume snippets such as "accomplished", hurt your resume. They look cliche and don't present you in a positive light. The same is true of text such as "hard worker". The lion's share of organizations perceive the duties and responsibilities resume format, as boring and worthless. Instead, hiring decision-makers have to see what makes you a better choice than other rivals, including real-life examples of achievements you made for former engagements.

Employing the duties/responsibilities resume format, will make sure that your resume is thrown into the garbage! Interviewers don't care anymore about what you did at prior positions. Rather, they have to see the actual contributions you have made.

In the current job market, companies demand to be told the actual employment title you are hoping to apply for - while a general resume never shows it. On top of that, they quickly wish to find out what positively places you above the rest - while a general resume causes you to appear just like the other 399 general resumes they've already received.
