Gurman: Apple arbeitet auch weiterhin an Kombi-Gerät aus HomePod, Apple TV und iPad

Auch an Ostern war der Bloomberg-Kollege Mark Gurman nicht untätig und hat eine neue Ausgabe seines Power-On Newsletters veröffentlicht. Darin ging es dieses Mal unter anderem um den HomePod und was Apple künftig mit seinem smarten Speaker plant. Laut Gurman arbeitet man in Cupertino nach wie vor an einer Kombination aus HomePod und Apple TV, die zudem mit einer FaceTime-Kamera ausgestattet sein wird. Prinzipiell kann man sich die Funktionsweise also ähnlich vorstellen wie beim Amazon Echo Show, wobei eine Art iPad das Gerät als Display ergänzen soll. Das neue Gerät soll Apples künftiger Ansatz für den Home-Bereich und damit auch noch mehr die Steuerzentrale für HomeKit sein, wobei der HomePod mini quasi als kleine Satelliten überall im Haus zum Einsatz kommen sollen.

Dank der FaceTime-Kamera soll man mit dem Gerät logischerweise auch Videotelefonate führen können, wobei Apples Center Stage Technologie dabei helfen dürfte, die Personen stets im Zentrum des Bildes zu halten. Möglicherweise geht das dann auch sowei, dass sich das Display des Geräts samt Kamera mitdreht, wenn sich die Personen im Raum bewegen. Über das Display kann man selbstverständlich auch Inhalte wie Filme, Serien und Spiele konsumieren, der Speaker kann Musik abspielen.

Aktuell soll sich die Entwicklung des Geräts laut Gurman allerdings noch in einem recht frühen Stadium befinden, weswegen es erstens noch nicht klar ist, wann es auf den Markt kommen oder ob Apple es am Ende nicht doch noch streichen könnte. Dem Apple-Insider zufolge soll Apple aber aktuell sehr stark an den Plänen festhalten.
