Zeitreise: Apple feiert 10 Jahre iTunes Store

Ein Stück Musik-Zeitgeschichte feiert Jubiläum. In diesem Jahr, genauer gesagt am kommenden Sonntag, wird der iTunes Store, der den Weg der Musik ins digitale Zeitalter maßgeblich mitgeebnet hat, genau zehn Jahre alt. Am 28. April 2003 startete Apple das Angebot in den USA mit gerade einmal 200.000 Songs. Es folgte die Expansion in weitere Länder (Deutschland folgte am 15. Juni, Österreich am 26. Oktober des Jahres 2004 und die Schweiz schließlich am 10. Mai 2005) und der Ausbau des Angebots. Zur Musik gesellten sich nach und nach Musikvideos, TV-Serien, Filme, (Hör-)Bücher und schließlich Apps, was den iTunes Store inzwischen zum virtuellen Multimedia-Kaufhaus und iTunes zur Schaltstelle dieser Inhalte gemacht hat. Das 10-jährige Jubiläum wird von Apple nun mit einer Sonderseite im iTunes Store gefeiert, die neben den wichtigsten Meilensteine der Geschichte des Stores auch die jeweils angesagteste Musik aus den verschiedenen Jahren aufleben lässt. Oder wusste jemand noch, welcher Song und welches Album sich im Jahr 2005 am besten verkauft haben?
