Apple nimmt neuen iPod touch mit 16 GB ins Programm auf

Apple hat in der vergangenen Nacht heimlich, still und leise die vierte Generation des iPod touch aus seinem Online Store entfernt und stattdessen ein neues Modell der aktuellen fünften Generation aufgenommen. Um nach wie vor ein Modell mit einem geringeren Preis im Sortiment zu haben, hat man dabei allerdings auf verschiedene Features der im vergangenen Herbst vorgestellten Modelle verzichtet. Mit an Bord ist ein 4" Retina-Display und der A5-Chip, was dazu führt, dass Apple aktuell ausschließlich noch iPod touches mit 4"-Display im Programm hat. Auf der Rückseite fehlt allerdings die iSight-Kamera und der Haken, an den der im vergangenen Jahr vorgestellte Loop angehangen werden kann. Das neue Modell kommt mit 16 GB an Speicherplatz. Anders als die größeren Modellen steht es allerdings nur in der Farbvariante schwarz/silber zur Verfügung. Es ist durchaus möglich, dass Apple mit diesem Schritt auch beginnt, sich von der alten 3,5"-Displaydiagonalen und älterer Hardware zu trennen, eventuell mit Bezug auf das anstehende iOS 7. Unter Umständen könnte dies auch ein weiterer Hinweis auf ein günstigeres iPhone sein, welches nach ähnlichem Muster wie nun beim iPod touch auf verschiedene Hardware-Features gegenüber der teureren Variante verzichtet. Nee, jetzt mal im Ernst. Der sieht wie das gemunkelte Budget-iPhone aus. Ich glaube Apple will nur langsam das 3,5" Display loswerden, aber trotzdem nicht auf eine Einstiegsvariante verzichten.

Ich hatte schon vermutet, dass die drastische Preiserhöhung beim Touch (Einstiegsgerät bisher 189 Euro, jetzt 319 Euro) eine Reaktion seitens Apple notwendig macht.
Immerhin muss man nun nicht mehr 319 Euro für das "billigste" Gerät ausgeben.

Mich hatte es wirklich gewundert, dass Apple den Einstieg in die Touch-Modelle im September 2012 um etwa 70% verteuert hatte. Das konnte nicht gut gehen.

Deren Preispolitik ist mir auch nicht ganz klar. Für 199€ würden deutlich mehr Leute zu einem Gerät greifen. Das würde unterm Strich heißen, dass sich diese Leute um AppStore Umsatz deutlich beteiligen. Umso mehr Leute, desto größer der Umsatz. Hier hätte Apple es bei 199€ echt belassen sollen. Ist einfach attraktiver für die Leute.
