Vollständiger Hack: Angreifer erbeuten sämtliche Daten der Streaming-Plattform Twitch

Vermutlich bin ich inzwischen einfach zu alt aber die Streaming-Plattform Twitch kenne ich tatsächlich nur vom Hörensagen. Allerdings ist das dort florierende Geschäft für Gamer beinahe schon so groß wie YouTube und Instagram für andere Influencer. Insofern ist der nun bekanntgewordene Vorfall durchaus einigermaßen dramatisch. So berichtet das Gaming-Magazin Video Games Chronicle von einem "kompletten Hack" der Plattform, bei dem so ziemlich sämtliche Daten, die auf der Plattform lagerten inkl. des zugrundeliegenden Quellcodes erfolgreich von den Angreifern erbeutet. Neben dem kompletten Quellcode für die Plattform selbst und sämtliche Apps gehören zu den abgegriffenen Daten somit auch sämtliche Auszahlungsdaten seit 2019, die verwendeten SDKs, verschiedene interne Sicherheitstools, die Historie sämtlicher Kommentare seitdem die Plattform 2011 ans Netz gegangen ist und Benutzerzugänge. Ob die Passwörter ebenfalls darunter sind, ist noch nicht abschließend geklärt aber nicht unwahrscheinlich. Zwar werden diese ohnehin verschlüsselt gespeichert, allerdings sind dennoch alle Twitch-Nutzer dazu aufgerufen, möglichst umgehend ihre Passwörter zu ändern und die optionale Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung zu aktivieren.

Die Hacker gaben inzwischen an, durch den Angriff die Monopolstellung von Twitch auf dem Spiele-Streamingmarkt aufbrechen und für mehr Wettbewerb sorgen zu wollen. Twitch gehört seit 2014 zu Amazon und beschert den erfolgreichsten Spiele-Streamern Einnahmen in Millionenhöhe. Wie aus den geleakten Daten hervorgeht, erzielte der Kanal "CriticalRole" zwischen August 2019 und Oktober 2021 satte 9,6 Millionen US-Dollar. "MonatanaBlack", der erfolgreichste Kanal in Deutschland kommt im selben Zeitraum auf nicht viel weniger beeindruckende 2,4 Millionen Dollar. Von Amazon gibt es bislang noch keine Stellungnahme zu dem Angriff.
